Middle Tennessee State linebacker Craig Allen is improving after he sustained a neck injury Saturday.
Allen’s symptoms have decreased overnight, according to the MTSU athletics department. He remains at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment and observation.
Allen was hurt when he tackled Troy’s Shawn Southward late in the fourth quarter of MTSU’s 24-21 win in Murfreesboro. He stayed motionless on the field as the game stopped for 16 minutes.
According to the Daily News Journal (Murfreesboro), he regained movement and feeling in all his extremities later Saturday.
Allen, a junior from Carrollton, Ga., leads the Blue Raiders this season with a career-high 82 tackles.
