Middle Tennessee State wants to end up in the NCAA Tournament.
The Blue Raiders will get a chance to prove they belong – in front of a national audience.
MTSU’s matchup at Sun Belt Conference rival Denver on Feb. 4 will be aired on either ESPN or ESPN2 at 3 p.m. (CST), the network announced Wednesday. The station will be finalized seven to 10 days prior to the game.
At 15-2, the Blue Raiders are off to their best since the 1974-75 season. They are 4-0 in Sun Belt play and sit atop the East Division. MTSU rides a seven-game winning streak – tied for the longest during head coach Kermit Davis’ 10-year tenure – into a road contest at FIU on Thursday.
The Blue Raiders lead the conference in field-goal shooting percentage (49.5 percent), while Denver is second (48.1 percent). The Pioneers rank first in the league in scoring defense (59.2 points allowed). MTSU is a close second, allowing just 61.1 points a game.
Denver (13-3, 3-1) sits in second in the West and has won seven of eight.
