National basketball tournament attracts more than 1,200 girls

There are 124 teams from around the country will compete in the National AAU Girls 11-under Basketball National Tournament, which will be held in the Nashville area this week.

Over 400 games will be played, beginning Monday morning at three sites – A-Game Sportsplex in Brentwood (six courts), Ensworth (five courts) and BGA (two courts). There are three divisions, DI, DII and DIII.

More than 1,200 girls will be competing. Play will continue all week and will culminate in the championship games 2 p.m. Friday at A-Game.

The opening ceremonies were held Sunday afternoon and included all teams, which paraded through with their banners on display.
