Tennessee State won't simply have the opportunity for an upset in front of its home crowd when it hosts Murray State in a couple weeks. The Tigers actually will have the chance to do so in front of a national audience.

The Ohio Valley Conference announced on Tuesday that the matchup between Murray State and TSU at the Gentry Center at 7 p.m. on Feb. 23 will be televised on ESPNU. The same teams play 7 p.m. Thursday at Murray in a game available on ESPN3.

Murray State (23-0, 11-0) is the last undefeated team in Division I.

The Tigers (15-10, 8-4) have won five in a row and need just one win to clinch their first winning season since 1995-96. They are tied for second place in the OVC with Tennessee Tech, which comes to the Gentry Center on Saturday.

Over the last two years, TSU has a 20-3 record at home. The Tigers’ only losses were to Belmont and Murray State last year and Middle Tennessee State two months ago.

• Thornton honored: TSU junior forward Kellen Thornton picked up his second OVC Newcomer of the Week honor of the season, the league announced on Monday.

Thornton, a Chicago native, matched his career-high with back-to-back 15-point games in wins against Austin Peay and Southeast Missouri State last week. The 6-foot-7, 243-pounder shot 50 percent from the field (10-of-20) and grabbed a total of 11 rebounds.
