The Nashville Predators continued to add depth at forward when they signed 23-year-old Peter Olvecky on Thursday.
Olvecky made his NHL debut last season and played 31 games for the Minnesota Wild. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound left wing had two goals, five assists and 12 penalty minutes. In 41 appearances for Minnesota’s AHL affiliate, Houston, he had six goals, 17 assists and 31 penalty minutes.
A native of Slovakia, Olvecky was drafted in the third round (78th overall) by Minnesota in 2004 and came to North America a year later.
He signed a one-year, two-way deal with Nashville for an NHL salary of $500,000 and an AHL salary of $105,000.
He became the second forward this week to agree to a one-year, two-way deal with the Predators. Ben Guite, formerly of Colorado, came to terms on a similar contract Tuesday.
