Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg scored two goals in the third period to lift the Red Wings over the Predators in Game 1 of their NHL playoff first-round series in Detroit.

The Predators trail the best-of-7 series 1-0.

Nashville went into the third period tied 1-1 with Detroit after a goal from Jordin Tootoo at the 17:47 mark of the second period.

"We all understand that we have to take it one game at a time," said Tootoo. "We know we can play with them, but we just have to worry about ourselves and put this one behind us. You have to win four games out of seven. This is only Game 1, so we have to refresh ourselves."

Zetterberg then scored at 6:54 of the third period and added an empty-net goal late in the game when the Preds pulled the goalie to get an extra attacker.

Johan Franzen scored at the 5:58 mark of the first period for Detroit.

Ok guys, you need to stop the sloppy play and stupid turnovers. You can't turn the puck over at the blue line against the Wings.Anyone seen our first line? This is becoming a trend, unfortunately, that the top line becomes invisible around the playoffs. You're right Titan, we need more scoring.I hope Nichol is ok, for all the bad stuff, we still were in it until the end, that bodes well for the game tomorrow. All we need is a split. Let's go Preds!!!

Ellis actually played well, he didn't have any help when he gave up that first goal, not one Pred in front of him. I think he stopped 37 shots and I think we only had 20 shots on goal the whole game.
