The state volleyball tournament opens Wednesday with CPA meeting Stone Mountain at 1 p.m. at MTSU in the Lions’ AA opener.
The CPA girls’ team qualified for its second straight state tournament by finishing off Harpeth Hall in the Class AA sectionals in just over an hour last week. Seniors Anna Mitchell and Anna Bliss Eberle controlled the net and the Lions (32-5) fought past a scrappy Harpeth team.
“It’s a great stepping stone for our program, getting to our second straight state tournament,’’ said Coach Pat Perry after the win.
In DII, Father Ryan (39-8) takes on Ensworth Wednesday at 2:30 at Blackman High.
Also, at MTSU, Williamson County powerhouses Centennial, the defending champ, and Ravenwood play their opening matches, both at 7 p.m.
