BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Georgia Dome in Atlanta will remain the site of the Southeastern Conference’s football championship game at least through 2015, the conference office announced today.
A five-year contract extension, beginning with the 2010 game, guarantees that the game will remain at the venue where it has been contested every year since 1994. The game has been a sellout every year except one during that time.
The 2009 championship game will be played 3 p.m. (CST) Dec. 5.
"The Georgia Dome and the Georgia World Congress Center is a fitting host for our event. Their operations staff and leadership have been tremendous to work with and we look forward to continuing the relationship,” SEC commissioner Mike Slive said in a release.
