Snedeker named PGA Rookie of the Year

Former Vanderbilt star Brandt Snedeker, who won the Wyndham Championship and finished 20th on the FedExCup points list, was selected as the PGA Tour's Rookie of the Year. He had six top-10 finishes to his credit and collected $2,836,643 — the third highest rookie total in history.

"This has been a wonderful season for me and to finish it by being voted by my peers as the Rookie of the Year is tremendous," Snedeker said. " When I looked at the list of Tour players who have been honored in such a way, I am humbled to have my name alongside them."

Yep, props to Brandt, he had a great year! I enjoyed watching him as much as Tiger, Phil, and big John.

Congrats to Brandt! And a tip of the visor to Virgil Herring, the Middle Tennessee golf teacher who helped him get there!I first heard of Brandt because he was a student of Virgil's. Now, maybe some people will hear about Virgil because he was Brandt's teacher!

Brandt is an exciting, fresh face on the Tour. I congratulate him on his well earned honor. If the Tour had more young players like Brandt, it would be much more fun to watch. By the way, I too am a student of Virgil Herring, Brandt's first teacher. I also hope Virgil becomes more well known, but not so much that I can't get on his schedule.

I enjoy watching him more than Tiger. Good luck!
