Staff reports

The Nashville Predators’ game Dec. 19 at Calgary will start at 3 p.m. (CST).

The change, announced Tuesday, was made to accommodate the Flames’ local television. The contest originally was scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST).

The game will be the second of three straight in Western Canada. Nashville will play at Edmonton on Dec. 17 and at Vancouver on Dec. 22 before the NHL’s Christmas break.

Nashville opens training camp Sept. 12. It begins the 2009-10 regular season on Oct. 3.

December 19 should be right around college bowl season and/or pro football Saturday games. NHL can't beat football head-to-head on broadcasts, so they may as well play early.
