The Nashville Predators recalled defenseman Cody Franson from Milwaukee (AHL), the team announced Friday morning.

A third-round draft choice (79th overall) by Nashville in 2005, Franson is expected to make his NHL debut Saturday when the Predators play at Washington, 6 p.m. (CDT), Saturday (no television, WRQQ-FM 97.1).

Franson (6-foot-5, 214 pounds) was a second-team AHL All-Star for Milwaukee last season when he had 52 points (11 goals, 41 assists). He had one goal and one assist in three games for the Admirals this season.

The Predators have allowed 15 goals in their last three games. Their defense has no goals and five assists for the season.

The recall of Franson puts Nashville at the NHL roster limit of 23 active players. It also means there are seven defensemen on the active roster for the first time this season.
