The Tennessee Titans promoted defensive end Sean Conover from their practice squad to the 53-man active roster Wednesday morning before practice.
To make room for Conover, tight end Ben Troupe was placed on injured reserve after breaking a bone in his ankle.
Troupe suffered the injury on his 14-yard touchdown catch in Sunday's 31-13 victory at Philadelphia. A second opinion Tuesday confirmed the fracture.
Conover, a rookie from Bucknell, could see some action against the New York Giants on Sunday, as the Titans are thin at defensive end. Travis LaBoy (concussion), Josh Savage (hamstring) and Antwan Odom (knee) were all out against Philadelphia. Odom has been sidelined for the past few games, while LaBoy has yet to receive clearance, and Savage hurt his hamstring in practice last week.
Ben Hartsock will fill in for Troupe. It will be his first action as a Titan since being picked up off waivers from Indianapolis Oct. 25.
