For the second consecutive season, the Tennessee Titans will open the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and close it with the Indianapolis Colts. They will also play on Thanksgiving Day for the first time in 11 years, traveling to Detroit.

The Titans open at home with Jacksonville on Sept. 7 and close the year Dec. 28 in the Colts’ new stadium Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Titans have a pair of national contests this season, playing the Lions on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) at Ford Field. It will be the franchise’s first Thanksgiving Day game since a 1997 victory at Dallas when the team called Memphis home.

The other national game for the Titans is in primetime on Monday Night Football at home against the Colts on Oct. 27. It will be the first primetime game at LP Field since the 2004 season for Tennessee.

Last season, the Titans, who finished 10-6 and lost in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs, opened and closed the season on the road against AFC South rivals. The Titans will play host to the Jaguars in this season’s opener, but will still travel to Indianapolis for their regular-season finale for the second straight year.

Other home games for the Titans this season include Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 against Houston and Minnesota, respectively; Nov. 2 against Green Bay and Nov. 23 against the New York Jets. The Titans then come out of the Thanksgiving road game with a Dec. 7 home date with the Cleveland Browns. They close the home portion of their schedule when the Pittsburgh Steelers visit on Dec. 21.

In terms of schedule toughness, division rivals Jacksonville and Indianapolis are the only two playoff teams from a year ago that Tennessee faces on the road. The Titans face those two teams, plus 2007 playoff teams Green Bay and Pittsburgh at LP Field.

VISITORS: The Titans will host linebacker Tavares Gooden of Miami and Auburn cornerback Patrick Lee among their pre-draft visitors this week.
