Titans' Schwartz making coaching rounds

Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz continues to make the rounds for head coaching interviews.

Schwartz, a Maryland native and Georgetown University graduate, interviewed with the Washington Redskins on Thursday and has an interview with the Atlanta Falcons scheduled on Friday.

In addition to that, Schwartz is also expected to interview with the Miami Dolphins on Monday, even though most believe that new team president Bill Parcells already has a deal in place with Cowboys defensive coordinator Tony Sparano to take that position once Dallas’ playoff run ends.

Schwartz, 41, presided over a huge turnaround for the Tennessee Titans defense this season, as it rose from being ranked last in the league in 2006 to fifth overall this season.

Schwartz has been the Titans defensive coordinator for the past seven season and has spent nine seasons with the organization altogether.

The irony of Schwartz being the first candidate to interview for the Redskins coaching job since Joe Gibbs resigned earlier in the week is that former Titans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is currently the defensive coordinator in Washington.

Williams was expected to be one of the potential candidates to replace Gibbs himself.
