Tennessee State University's football team is heading back to Indianapolis' Circle City Classic, renewing a match-up with North Carolina A&T, the school announced Tuesday.
The game set for Oct. 2 will be played in Lucas Oil Stadium against the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Aggies. To make room on their 2010 schedule, TSU dropped a game with Southern University.
TSU last appeared in the Circle City Classic in 2005 when they dropped a16-3 decision to A&T in the RCA Dome.
The Tigers under head coach Rod Reed will participate in four ‘Classic’ contests against traditional rivals from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). But the tentative new 11-game schedule leaves just four home games at LP Field. (For the complete TSU schedule, click here.)
Classic match-ups begin on Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 4, with the annual John Merritt Classic in Nashville. The Tigers will open Ohio Valley Conference play at LP Field against Austin Peay on Sept. 18 but not play another league contest until Oct. 9 or another home game until Oct. 23.
The Big Blue will cap its home schedule Nov. 6 with its Homecoming against Eastern Illinois.
