Freshman Sonny Gray will make his first collegiate start Friday when Vanderbilt opens a three-game series at Georgia, according to a release from the athletics department on Tuesday.

The 2008 high school All-American from Smyrna has appeared in 17 games – all in relief. He has posted a 3-1 record with a team-high five saves.

Mike Minor, who has been the Friday starter, will pitch Saturday and Drew Hayes will start Sunday. Caleb Cotham, the regular Saturday starter who has battled a minor knee injury the last two weeks, will be rested.

The Commodores (27-20) face Belmont in a recently added seven-inning doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Hawkins Field. Admission to both games is free.

Updates on the shakeup in the pitching rotation to come.
