Vanderbilt’s men’s basketball team will maintain its international flair even after the departure of rising seniors Jeffery Taylor (Sweden), Festus Ezeli (Nigeria) and Steve Tchiengang (Cameroon).

Kevin Stallings and his staff received a 2012 commitment over the weekend from German small forward Kevin Bright, who is listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds and, according to some reports, can play any of the three backcourt positions.

Unlike Taylor, Ezeli and Tchiengang, who all attended high school in the United States and remained for college, Bright plays at the German Basketball Academy in Urpsring, which has produced other Division I prospects in recent years. Last December, his team became the first from Europe to compete at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

Bright’s father is Nigerian and his mother is German.

He made the decision, reported by multiple recruiting websites, after he took official visits to Vanderbilt, California and Utah.

“Vanderbilt was the better program,” he told heardthisblog.com.
