GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Marina Alex earned at at-large spot in the NCAA Championship, but Vanderbilt stumbled as a team in the final round and fell to 11th place.

The 23rd-ranked Commodores started the round tied for third but shot a collective 309 (29-over par). Their third-round score was at least 12 strokes higher than any of the top 10.

The top eight teams and top two individuals not on those teams advanced to the NCAA Championship.

Alex, a freshman, made one birdie and had four bogeys in a round of 73, which gave her a final score of 4-over (214). She finished tied for fourth overall and was the second-highest finisher among players not on the top eight teams.

Senior Jacqui Concolino shot a second consecutive 73 and finished tied for 40th at 13-over (240). Like Alex, she had one birdie and four bogeys.

None of Vanderbilt’s other three players shot in the 70s for the final round.

Three SEC teams were among the top eight. Alabama was second, Tennessee was third and Georgia was eighth, five strokes ahead of Vanderbilt.
