Vandy survives behind stellar outing by Price

HOOVER, Ala. -- Junior pitcher David Price pitched his fifth complete game of the season to lead Vanderbilt to a 3-2 win over Mississippi State at the Southeastern Conference Tournament Thursday at Regions Park.

The Commodores improved to 47-11 overall and advanced to a 6:30 p.m. Friday game against the loser of Thursday night's Ole Miss-Tennessee game.

Price, named SEC Pitcher of the Year this week, carried a perfect game until the seventh inning before giving up a single. He ended up giving up two runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks.
