Sales of 2009-10 Vanderbilt men’s basketball season tickets to the general public will begin online at midnight Monday and at the VU ticket office 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The Internet presale is the first of its kind for Vanderbilt.
“We’ve had a lot of customers request it,” ticket manager Eric Jones said. “We’ve had people tell us, ‘I don’t like waiting on the phone or in line at the ticket office.’
“We like to be responsive, so we’re going to give this a try. It gives our online customers an eight-hour head start, but how many people are going to be online looking to purchase tickets after midnight?”
Jones said approximately 2,000 seats (many of them singles) will be available. The exact number is not yet available because renewals were still being processed Monday.
He said he expects all available tickets eventually will be purchased.
“We’re going to sell the whole gym,” Jones said.
The seats are available from $140 through $350 and in sections not reserved for athletic department donors, VU students, visiting teams and group sales.
Vanderbilt has not yet released its 2009-10 men’s basketball schedule, but Jones said he expects the university’s season-ticket package to consist of 17-20 games at Memorial Gymnasium, one of which might be an exhibition.
Internet purchases may be made through the VU’s athletic department website, vucommodores.com.
Beginning Tuesday morning, tickets also may be purchased at the Vanderbilt ticket office or by phone at (615) 322-4653.
