Vanderbilt guard John Jenkins was named to the Associated Press All-America third team on Monday.
Jenkins, a 6-foot-4 junior from Hendersonville who earned honorable mention accolades last year, led the Southeastern Conference in scoring for the second straight year.
He averaged 19.9 points and his 696 points this season were the second-most in a single season by a Vanderbilt player. He tied Shan Foster, a second-team AP All-American in 2008, for the school’s single-season 3-point record with 134 treys. He was first in Division I with 3.83 3-pointers a game.
Jenkins was one of three SEC players to be named an All-American. Kentucky’s freshman Anthony Davis earned first-team honors. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, also a freshman at Kentucky, joined Jenkins on the third team.
