ATHENS, Ga. – Aaron Westlake hit two home runs, and Sonny Gray – in his first collegiate start – allowed one run in six innings as Vanderbilt defeated No. 13 Georgia 10-2 on Friday.

The Commodores (30-20, 11-13) staked Gray to a 4-0 lead when Westlake, a redshirt-freshman, and Andrew Giobbi hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the first inning. It was 1-0 when Westlake hit a two-run shot to right field. Giobbi then took one out to left center.

Westlake led off the fifth with another home run, his sixth of the season. He also had a third-inning single and led all players for either team with three hits.

Gray, a true freshman, allowed three singles and four walks but struck out seven.

Jack Armstrong, another true freshman, allowed one run and one hit over the final three innings and earned his first career save.

Georgia’s only run came when Michael Demperio led off the third with a walk and stole second. Matt Cerione then drove him in with a single.

The Bulldogs (33-16, 14-11) lost their seventh straight overall, and sixth straight in conference play.
