Wide receiver Matt Jones has agreed to terms with the Cincinnati Bengals rather than the Tennessee Titans.
Jones' agent, Alan Herman, confirmed that the former first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars had decided to go with the Bengals over the Titans, who had worked him out last September and had remained interested in him.
Jones caught 65 passes for Jacksonville in 2008, but a second off-field incident following his arrest on felony drug charges in 2008 (He later reached a plea agreement to a lesser charge), led to the Jags releasing him.
The Titans’ interest in Jones appeared to be mild. The City Paper reported Thursday that Tennessee’s offer amounted to the league minimum. The Cincinnati Enquirer had reported that the Bengals had offered Jones slightly more than that.
